QUESTION: How do I become a fluent English speaker?

Answer: For some ideas click on the boxes below..

English is the most widely used language of business, science, healthcare and academia in the world today. Academic textbooks are written in English in most subjects, so a targeted English course is a worthwhile  investment in your future that will pay you back many times over. English proficiency is a relevant skill that will enhance every part of your life, both professional and social, building your confidence at work, enhancing your general educational prospects, as well as opening the door to more enjoyable foreign travel.
And the best part is that it doesn’t have to be painful! With a qualified, supportive, friendly and sympathetic teacher (like me) your English skills will improve very quickly. Learn to “Speak English like a Pro” with me as your private tutor.  I have years of experience  in the TESOL sector and have helped lots of students realise their ambitions.
A good start is half the battle, so it is important to start on the right path. If you are reading this, then you are already probably interested in improving your English! The first step then is making initial contact, and that is simple. You can call or text me at any time on 93919188 or email me (gerardmccurley@hotmail.com) and together we can set up a face-to-face or Zoom meeting at a time convenient to you. This meeting is totally free and without any obligation and is just to identify your language needs. After that, I may also email you a short questionnaire or grammar test, just to help me create your specific ‘needs analysis’ and suggest the most effective lesson plans for you. And that’s it! I will formulate a quote for your individual course, and you can decide if you want to proceed or not. No obligation. But the first step is making initial contact, so I hope to hear from you soon. All the best, Gerard.
As I said, a good start is half the battle, and an educated, knowledgeable, and professional teacher is a key element in providing support to the learning process, because it is much easier to learn something correctly the first time, than have to ‘un-learn’ mistakes.
Language learners need to learn to speak fluently as well as accurately. In fact,  fluency is perhaps more important because it’s better to speak fluent ‘broken’ English than to say very little, because you are afraid of making a mistake.
But of course, professional people (especially here in Denmark) are often well-educated and want to speak with absolutely accuracy too. This is where my professional language skills come into play. I have specialist training in linguistics, and I have been teaching for many years, so I have developed a personal, practical methodology that caters for such learners and helps professional people raise their language to the next level. I like to encourage a friendly relationship with all my students, so that they feel that they are learning in  a ‘safe space’ and are not afraid to make mistakes, because it is only by taking risks and making mistakes that we can improve.
